Green Island Transportation Option 2. Airplane

If you reside in Taipei, you can also take Uni Air or Mandarin Airlines. The flight takes about 65 minutes and you can fly directly from Songshan Airport to Taitung Airport. Afterward, you can transfer to Daily Air to reach Green Island.

Out-of-town travelers can take the train to Taitung Train Station, and then transfer to a taxi or local bus to reach Taitung Airport or Fugang Fishery Harbor to catch a flight or ferry to Green Island.

Currently, there are three companies, Kaisun, Tianwangxing, and Green Island Star, operating ferries between Taitung Fugang and Green Island. There are two scheduled trips per day, with a travel time of 50 minutes. Additional trips may be added if there are many passengers, so it is recommended to check the schedule online in advance or inquire on the day of travel. Some ferry services also offer motorcycle transportation to Green Island, with a fee of approximately 200 NTD. Make sure to inquire with each company if this service is available!

From Taitung Fugang Fishery Harbor, it takes about 50 minutes to reach Nanliao Fishery Harbor in Green Island.

• Half fare: $280 (children under 12, seniors over 65, disabled individuals, and one accompanying person)

How to fly from Taitung to Green Island?

The most convenient way to travel to Green Island is by taking a flight. Flying is also the fastest way, as it takes about 15 minutes to reach Green Island from Taitung Airport on a small 19-seater plane.

However, there are only 3 scheduled flights to Green Island each day, and the number of available seats for non-residents of Green Island is limited. Therefore, I recommend booking your seats as early as possible!

Transportation on Green Island 1. Scooter:

For visitors who prefer convenience, it is recommended to rent a scooter. It only takes one hour to go around the island. The only gas station on the island is located in Nanliao Village and operates from 8:00-18:00.

Scooters are the main mode of transportation on Green Island, so if you are an independent traveler, I suggest renting a scooter to explore the island! It only takes about an hour to go around Green Island!

Before renting a scooter, I recommend checking the condition of the scooter, such as the tire pressure and brakes, to ensure safety. The only gas station on the island is located in Nanliao Village and operates from 8:00-18:00.

You can also ask the guesthouses or hotels on Green Island if they offer package tours or scooter rental services.

If you are a sporty traveler with good physical fitness, I highly recommend a cycling trip. Cycling while enjoying the scenery along the way will be an unforgettable experience.

The Green Island bus operates on a fixed schedule, departing from Nanliao Fishing Port and traveling clockwise along the island's ring road. Each bus tour takes approximately 1 hour and stops at various attractions along the way, including Nanliao Shopping Street, Green Island Visitor Center, Zhongliao Village, Chaikou Snorkeling Area, Gongguan Nose, Green Island Human Rights Memorial Park, Guanyin Cave, Pomelo Lake, Sleeping Beauty and Habu Rock, Hot Spring Village, Asahi Hot Spring, and Dabaisha Snorkeling Area. The final stop is Nanliao Fishing Port, allowing visitors to fully explore the beauty of Green Island. However, due to limited frequency, it is recommended to check the timetable in advance.
