HSR Miaoli Station to Taichung Airport (RMQ) - meet & greet

For many travelers from outside the city, the most common way to start an overseas trip is by taking the HSR or train to HSR Miaoli Station and then transferring to the airport. However, this short connection from the station to the airport is often the riskiest part of the entire journey. Dragging heavy luggage through a large station to find the airport bus or MRT is time-consuming, and any delay during the transfer process can cause the stress of potentially missing your flight. Fixed bus or MRT schedules also may not align perfectly with your departure time, leaving you waiting for long periods at the station or airport. Tripool’s direct “station-to-airport” transfer service is designed to eliminate that stress completely, built around precision and efficiency. By the time your train is approaching Miaoli County, our driver will already have checked your flight details and planned the best route to Taichung Airport (RMQ). As soon as you exit the station, you can get straight into your car and hand over your luggage with peace of mind. Our shared ride service, starting from NT$1200, offers excellent value for solo travelers, while groups or families will find the 9-seater vans starting from NT$2800 both spacious and comfortable, with the option to add child safety seats for extra peace of mind. Don’t let uncertainty on the way to the airport ruin your trip—book Tripool now and let us provide the most stable and reliable start to your overseas journey, ensuring you arrive at the terminal on time and in a relaxed, stress-free mood.

Taichung Airport (RMQ) private Transfer FAQs

  • It is not recommended to take the High Speed Rail (HSR) from HSR Miaoli Station to Taichung Airport (RMQ). HSR is expensive, slow, involves transfer hassles, and has difficult taxi access. Although there can be up to 30 trains from Miaoli to Taichung a day, running from the first at 07:13 to the last at 23:43, once service ends for the night until early morning, alternative transportation is still required. Assuming you depart from HSR Miaoli Station (Houlong Township, Miaoli County) , it is about a 5-minute walk to the HSR boarding platform, with an estimated 10 minutes. Then, take a 16-18-minute (17 min on average) HSR ride from Miaoli Station to Taichung HSR Station. The ticket price is NT$270 per person, followed by a 10-minute walk to exit the station, wait for a ride at the taxi stand, and after a trip of about 31 minutes with a fare of NT$900, you will arrive at your destination at Taichung Airport (RMQ) (Shalu District, Taichung City). The entire journey, including transfers, takes a total of 1 hour and 13 minutes. Assuming 4 people traveling together, the average cost per person for the HSR and transfers is NT$500. However, in Miaoli County, there are only just over 400 licensed taxis. The taxi density is 0.5% of that in the Taipei/New Taipei metro area. In other words, hailing a taxi on the spot is 200 times more difficult than in a major city like Taipei. Even if you are lucky enough to hail a cab, a minority of taxi drivers in Miaoli County may not use the meter, and might overcharge or take detours, especially with passengers who appear to be from out of town. In contrast, if you use Tripool for a door-to-door private car service, the average cost per person is about NT$460, and the journey takes 43 minutes. Choosing the HSR over a private charter will not only cost each person at least an extra NT$40 in fares but also waste an additional 30 minutes on transfers and waiting. Book with Tripool now! If you are traveling in a group of three or less, you can also consider Tripool's carpooling service to save up to an additional 50% on transportation costs.
  • Travelers usually do not choose to rent or drive to Taichung Airport (RMQ). After all, leaving a car parked for multiple days means that parking fees and rental costs become a substantial expense.
  • If you choose to take a taxi directly, in the Miaoli County area, you can use apps to hail a cab from 55688 Taiwan Taxi, and if you cannot hail a cab on the street, you can also consider calling the only neighborhood taxi company in Houlong Township, Miaoli County, 大都會衛星車隊 to try to book a ride. Based on the meter, the estimated fare is between NT$1,320 and 1,600. However, in the whole Miaoli County, there are only about 380 licensed taxis. The taxi density is just 0.5% of that in the Taipei/New Taipei metro area, meaning it is 200 times more difficult to hail a cab on the spot compared to Taipei or New Taipei. Furthermore, some taxi drivers in Miaoli County flat-out refuse to use the meter. Nearly 34% of them will try to negotiate the fare on the spot—often asking far above the standard rate. If you’re not familiar with local pricing, you are an easy target. To avoid getting ripped off, it is strongly advised to book online in advance. Although a metered taxi from central HSR Miaoli Station to central Taichung Airport (RMQ) might be cheaper, you still face the risk of not being able to find a cab—or ending up with a driver who refuses to use the meter. If your group has more than four people, splitting into two taxis is inconvenient. In this case, Tripool, which offers pre-booking and reliable quality, might be a more suitable option for you. Considering all factors, Tripool is your best choice for traveling from HSR Miaoli Station to Taichung Airport (RMQ) in terms of both price and service quality.
  • Generally, international travelers have to reach the airport to check-in at least 2 hours before departure. However, we highly recommend having another 30 minutes buffer time. Taking a ride from Taichung City to Taoyuan Airport, for example, takes 1.5 hours to travel on a regular day. If your flight is 10 AM, it's better to schedule a taxi before 6 AM. After a plane landing, Taiwan citizens may take 30~40 minutes to collect their luggage but 60~90 minutes for foreigners. To avoid extra cost, reserving a taxi one hour later the arrival is ideal.
  • Among these options, Uber is the only one with broad and reliable coverage in Taiwan, available in major cities such as Taipei, Taichung, and Kaohsiung. Grab does not operate in Taiwan. Didi previously entered the market but has since exited. Bolt has just launched in Taiwan and is currently limited to Taipei. Lyft is not available in Taiwan. If you are choosing among these five, Uber is by far the most practical and widely used option in Taiwan. However, for longer intercity transfers, airport rides, or day trips, tripool is often a better choice—offering transparent pricing, professional drivers, and coverage across Taiwan.
  • According to the latest Taiwan government announcement, all international inbound travelers cannot take public transportations but only wait for quarantine taxis. If you go to a quarantine hotel near Taipei, it takes around 5 to 10 minutes to leave the airport. Bad news for passengers who will travel down to Taichung or Kaohsiung, it may take up to one hour to wait for a quarantine taxi at the airport. There is no timeline for when the government will loose the regulation. Our suggestion is staying a hotel near Taipei. It is not only the waiting time at the airport for a taxi is shorter, but always it is easier to find an available room in Taipei. After 14-day quarantine, you are welcome to reserve a ride from the hotel to your home or dormitory. Tripool guarantees to provide private car service from anywhere to everywhere in Taiwan.
  • There are many gypsy cabs or illegal taxis in Line and Facebook groups. Their fares are cheap but with many risks. If the cabs are pulled over by polices, passengers cannot continue the trip. If there is an accident, none of the insurance companies will settle a claim. Worst of all, illegal drivers may conduct crimes without any trace. Don't put your life at risk for just saving a few bucks. On the other hand, tripool contracts with legal drivers without any criminal record. All vehicles provide up to $5 million in insurance. The easiest way to distinguish a legal vehicle is the car plate number. Unless the initial character of the car plate number is either T or R, the car is 100% illegal for taxi service.
  • Whether going from HSR Miaoli Station to Taichung Airport (RMQ) or to anywhere in Taiwan, tripool can be your driver for long-distance traveling. You can reserve a ride online for all kinds of purposes, such as a private day trip, attending a wedding, checking out from a hospital, going hiking/camping, moving, a business trip, picking up your pet, or airport transfer. As long as your reservation is made one day before by 6 pm, tripool guarantees a car for you tomorrow. If you need a receipt for a business trip, you can provide your company's title and tax ID on the checkout page. We will send the receipt which is accepted by the government via email within a week.
