- It is not recommended to take the High Speed Rail (HSR) from Xinpu MRT Station to Taoyuan Airport (TPE). HSR is expensive, slow, and involves transfer hassles. Although there can be up to 61 trains from Banqiao to Taoyuan a day, running from the first at 06:34 to the last at 23:08, once service ends for the night until early morning, alternative transportation is still required. Assuming you depart from Xinpu MRT Station (Banqiao District, New Taipei City) , you may walk or take a bus—if available—to Banqiao HSR station. Including walking to the platform, buying a ticket, and waiting for the train, it takes at least 20 minutes. Then, take a 11-13-minute (13 min on average) HSR ride from Banqiao Station to Taoyuan HSR Station. The ticket price is NT$130 per person, followed by a 5-minute walk to exit the station, wait for a ride at the taxi stand, and after a trip of about 20 minutes with a fare of NT$400, you will arrive at your destination at Taoyuan Airport (TPE) (Dayuan District, Taoyuan City). The entire journey, including transfers, takes a total of 58 minutes. Assuming 4 people traveling together, the average cost per person for the HSR and transfers is NT$230. It is not only the waiting time at the airport for a taxi is shorter, but always it is easier to find an available room in Taipei.
